Health Programme 2016 – Pumpkin seed breakfast! Are you sure!

OPTIMUM HEALTH DIARY: This section documents my pursuit of peak health and sports performance using established methods, breakthroughs in sports science and alternative/nature options. BREAKFAST: Breckie today is cereal made up of pumpkin seed, sunflower seed, flax seed and puffed spelt. Sounds delicious right? OK maybe not but add a spoonful of pure set honey instead of sugar and you’re away! Well check out the nutritional value of all of that below before you scoff!



Healthy Heart – “One-quarter cup of pumpkin seeds contains nearly half of the recommended daily amount of magnesium, which participates in a wide range of vitally important physiological functions, including the creation of ATP (adenosine triphosphate, the energy molecules of your body), the synthesis of RNA and DNA, the pumping of your heart, proper bone and tooth formation, relaxation of your blood vessels, and proper bowel function. Magnesium has been shown to benefit your blood pressure and help prevent sudden cardiac arrest, heart attack, and stroke, yet an estimated 80 percent of Americans are deficient in this important mineral.”

SNACKS: For when I’m peckish during the day I continue the nutritional theme with a bag of Golden Tree 3 Seed Mix –  salted and roasted pumpkin seed, sunflower seed and melon seed.  So it’s Golden Tree instead of Golden Wonder and now we’re ready to hit that day head on!
