HEALTH PROGRAMME: What’s the link between exercise and happiness? Well firstly exercise produces endorphins such as serotonin and also antibodies that promote mental and physical well being. Endorphins are basically chemicals in the body linked to neurotransmitters. When stimulated they block negative feelings and pain and instead give feelings of euphoria. In many ways this euphoric chemical release acts/feels similar to morphine. However, light exercise will not produce this effect, there has to be some push or exertion to reach this wellbeing ‘high’. So effort guys!
